Antarvedi is a small village in the Sakhinetipalle Mandal, located in the East Godavari district of the Andhra, Antarvedi Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Temple is located in Antarvedi.
I have visited this place with the group of friends. We planned to visit some places near East Godavari. Finally, we started our Journey from Hyderabad to Rajahmundry by train. We stayed one day in Rajahmundry and started next day to explore the places.
We reached around 11:00 am to Anthervedi temple. It’s very small village hence there are 4 to 5 small shops only and 2 food courts near the temple. We had lunch at that place. After puja we went to the beach near a lighthouse, there you can see the place from where you can experience the Godavari meets to the Bay of Bengal. That view was awesome. On the left side a big ocean and on the other hand Godavari.
We were there the day before 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami.
Antarvedi Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple
The temple was built between the 15th and 16th century. There is also a temple nearby that is dedicated to Lord Shiva that is older than Narasimha Swamy temple. The original idol of Lord Siva is believed to be installed by Lord Sri Rama 2500 years back.
There are five important spots of this holy abode namely the Sea, Sagar Sangam, Vasishta River, Raktakulya River and the Chakrateertham. people’s believe that there will be no re-birth on taking a dip at this place and on offering charities here. Performing ceremonial formalities to the ancestors at this holy shrine is identical to the ones done at Gaya and Ganges. People from very far off place, like Varanasi, also visit this place, especially to involve in Lord Narasimha’s Chariot procession in the month of Phalguna (January) and Dolepournami celebration in the month of Phalguna (March). During these celebrations, the Lord is worshiped with Panchamrita Abhishekam. This shrine blesses the pilgrims with Mukti, and so it is also called as the Mukti Kshetra. Antarvedi is also known as ‘Narasimhakshetra’. The great glory of this holy shrine is boundless.
The Sea meeting point of river Godavari (a tributary) to the Bay of Bengal is the main attraction of Antarvedi and this one of the places in Konaseema (East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh – India). Vasishta Sevashram is located just nearer to the river Godavari. Hence this tributary is called Vashishta Godavari. Launch facility is available to visit a small island at the other bank of the river Godavari (bank of Brother and Sister).
The place of confluence where the mighty ocean and the river are called the ‘Sapta Sagara Sangam Pradesh’. It is also known as the ‘Anna Chelli Gattu’, by the locals.
The month of January or February here will be a fair (Bhishma Ekadashi day) when Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy kalyanam is celebrated. A huge number of devotees are attending and take the holy dip at the Sangamam.
